Context:

The DRC Rights in Crisis Team is looking for enthusiastic advocacy expert to lead the campaign focusing on protection of civilians and the effects of conflict in the east of DRC.
The DRC Rights in Crisis Team uses their professional expertise in information, research, campaigns and advocacy to achieve Oxfam's goals and strategic aims. The Rights in Crisis team will take the lead and be in the frontline of campaigns and advocacy to build support for Oxfam's efforts in DRC.

The team develops and implements the advocacy strategy of Oxfam in DRC providing policy messages collecting and analysing information and leading the campaigning within Oxfam on conflict, protection of civilians, humanitarian principles and issues around security.

Oxfam DRC is looking for a campaigner to temporarily lead our Rights in Crisis Campaign for six months. It’s a fantastic opportunity for a person with the right skills and experience.
You'll have experience and a record of success in leading local, national and global campaigning in a similar context, overseeing advocacy, public campaigning, media and research. Critically you'll have strong diplomatic, writing, analytical and representational skills.

Fluency in English required and competence in French is highly desirable.

JOB PURPOSE

The Rights in Crisis Campaign Manager will support Oxfam’s efforts to design and implement advocacy strategies to better meet the needs of Congolese civilians affected by conflict and humanitarian disaster in line with the 2016 DRC RiC strategy.
The Rights in Crisis Campaign Manager will take overall responsibility for the management and implementation of the campaign to achieve agreed campaign objectives for a period of six months.

JOB DIMENSIONS

• Networking and management of significant processes and relationships, particularly with partners and external contacts.
• Representing all affiliates to influential external contacts
• Ad hoc research to inform policy
• Coordinate media activities, such as media visits, reactive lines in case of need, support for local journalists on assignment to Oxfam, acting as an external spokesperson, etc.
• Lead on the development of new policy messaging for Oxfam DRC on humanitarian and protection issues
• Develop messaging for national, regional and international audiences for influencing
• Continued analysis of the context of DRC, the national political context as well as the context of eastern DRC, and assure that the Oxfam RiC Campaign is regularly updated on the DRC context
• Responsible for shaping work which has potential major impact on public image.
