The Organization
Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is an international non-profit organization that promotes peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, DC, and a European office in Brussels, Belgium, SFCG’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict - away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG seeks to help conflicting parties understand their differences and act on their commonalities. With a total of approximately 600 staff worldwide, SFCG implements projects in 36 countries. SFCG’s programs are in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, and the United States.
Summary of Position
Under the supervision of the DRC Program Director, the Conflict Sensitivity Coordinator has the following responsibilities:
· Youth Program
· Conflict Analysis
· Conflict Sensitivity
· Support to Program Department
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities and specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Strategy development
· Develop an innovative and effective conflict sensitivity strategy for SFCG in the DRC
· Stay abreast of the international conflict sensitivity field to ensure that the program’s work remains innovative and professional: check the appropriate websites; liaise with organizations active in the domain; communicate regularly with ILT
Technical support
· Provide technical support for conflict sensitivity projects with the highest quality standards and well-documented results
· Assist in the writing of quality narrative and financial reports and the timely submission of said reports to donors
· Mainstream conflict sensitivity and capitalization of results across SFCG-DRC country program
Monitoring and Evaluation
· In collaboration with ILT, develop a monitoring and evaluation system for the conflict sensitivity of SFCG-DRC’s programming in general
· In collaboration with DME Department, measure the results of SFCG’s conflict sensitivity work in the DRC
· Share results with DME for Peace
Fundraising
· Fundraise for SFCG’s conflict sensitivity work, recovering at least $2,000,000 in 2016
External Representation
· Present the conflict sensitivity strategy and results of our conflict sensitivity work to external audiences, via SFCG website, and in meetings and conferences with local communities, government authorities, and international actors
· Increase the visibility of SFCG’s work in the field of conflict sensitivity, in order to position SFCG as a key actor in this field in the DRC and abroad
· Develop and maintain proactive, positive and professional relationships with present and potential donors, and in particular those working on youth and peacebuilding issues
Conflict analysis program management
· Supervise conflict analysis assistant (and fundraise for this position if necessary)
· Oversee “conflict scan” studies conducted in the DRC and ensure that they are conducted to the highest quality standards
· Coordinate the consolidation of all conflict scan results in the DRC
· Provide input to other department’s project proposals regarding the inclusion of conflict scan studies and conflict sensitive principles in new projects
· Provide expertise for conflict scan studies conducted by SFCG in other countries
· Promotes learning
o Provide coaching and trainings to SFCG staff, for instance on conflict analysis, conflict sensitivity, and the use of Google Drive for improving program support and quality
o Provide support for other SFCG country programs via temporary deployments yonder, in relation to youth programming and conflict analysis
o Mainstream conflict sensitivity across SFCG programs in DRC (and other country programs as necessary)
o Receive trainings (online or onsite) in the areas of conflict sensitivity
· Builds lasting partnerships
o Strengthen SFCG partnership with humanitarian actors in DRC
o Strengthen SFCG partnership with the DRC government
o Strengthen SFCG partnerships with international donors.
As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related area (Master’s Degree preferred), preferably in conflict resolution, international studies, peace-building, human rights or related area.
· Minimum of 5 years of related experience in peacebuilding, development, humanitarian assistance or other related fields.
· Knowledge of major donor rules and regulations, and the ability to manage and prioritize multi-donor funding
· Significant experience in project management in a non-profit environment
· Strong knowledge of conflict sensitivity and Do No Harm practices as well as familiarity with the Congolese context.

· Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
· Spoken and written fluency in English and French.
· Track record of conducting dialogue between highly divided parties.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail.
