The total salary package for this position is £51,960 - £56,424 per annum* (circa $78,646 - $84,402USD) including basic salary, hardship allowance, programme management allowance and cost of living allowance.

About the DRC Programme:
MAG has been working in DRC since 2004 and currently has a team of 9 expatriate staff and 50 national staff working in several provinces of DRC. MAG conducts a range of technical clearance activities, aimed at decreasing the risks posed by mines and unexploded ordnance, which were left scattered throughout the country during the war. As well as conducting technical clearance work, MAG delivers risk education to local communities and also works with national authorities, to improve the storage of weapons and destroy surplus stocks.
About the role:
This role will provide you with the opportunity to use your project and people management skills, leading a diverse team of international and national staff operating across a geographically varied environment. You will have the opportunity to use your skills in business development to network and interact with donor and other stakeholders and be responsible for the delivery of MAG’s work in a complex and challenging context. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced project or programme manager to challenge themselves, working in a senior leadership role within the organisation. Based in Kinshasa and reporting to the Regional Director, Sahel and West Africa, the Country Director will need to work independently, pro-actively and across a broad range of activities as the Senior Manager in country.
About you:
The successful candidate will need excellent programme management skills with experience of overseeing other staff working in programme support and delivery functions. To do this, you will need experience of working in a similar context, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will need to be able to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders in French and English; therefore the successful candidate will need to be fluent in French and have a professional working knowledge of English. This is a high-profile position that will require excellent liaison and diplomacy skills. Previous experience of being responsible for a programme in a challenging political, logistical and security environment would also be highly advantageous.
