We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our DRC team, Alert’s largest country programme. This is a project manager position for the 2-year project “Tujenge Pamoja – Let’s build together”, a project that International Alert was awarded by the Stabilisation Support Unit of the MONUSCO in participation with the STAREC (DRC Stabilization program) and the UNDP. It is the second largest program budget for Alert DRC, and the program has 9 local partners for the execution of the program. The project will be covering 5 pillars of the I4S (International Security and Stabilization Support Strategy), which are mainly democratic dialogue, improving security and land governance, promoting social cohesion through economic development and fighting sexual and gender based violence.
You will be responsible for the timely and effective implementation of the project and for coordination and synergy across a total of 9 local partners across 9 territories in 3 chiefdoms and 1 sector in South Kivu. In collaboration with the communication and advocacy specialist, other project staff and with relevant Alert personnel, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring and overseeing the implementation of a very ambitious and successful advocacy and networking strategy. You will also be responsible for monitoring progress and impact as well as reporting on it. You will also be responsible for nurturing a close collaboration and relationship with government authorities and strategic stakeholders.
Essential qualifications include extensive experience of implementing large and complex peacebuilding or development programmes in the DRC or in a similar context. Substantial NGO project management experience, including responsibility for contract management and donor relations. And proven experience of managing numerous staff members remotely is a must. Furthermore, we are looking for sound experience in leading peacebuilding and governance projects (land and security governance) and a familiarity with conflict-sensitive approaches to development. In addition, experience of developing and nurturing constructive relationships with local partners (governmental and non-governmental) is essential as well as an excellent working knowledge (spoken and written) of both French and English.
