Expert (m/f) for technical and social issues – focus: agriculture
in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo
The position is to be filled as soon as possible with an initial contract duration until 30 September 2017. Employment location will be Goma, DR Congo with regular duty trips to Masisi territory.
Job objectives and tasks
As expert (m/f) for technical and social issues, you are the primary focal point and responsible for the implementation, coordination and supervision of all agriculture related activities in the project area (in support of the head or project).
Your most important tasks:
Distribution of seeds and hand tools in the project area
Rehabilitation of spring catchments and related establishment and training of local Hygiene Committees
Analysis of conflict between indigenous and displaced populations and development of conflict resolution measures
In coordination with the Head of Project, support the warehouse management of relief supplies and ensure proper materials and resource planning
Manage and train local project staff
Ensure capacity building for local partner organizations
Prepare internal and external progress reports, in compliance with Welthungerhilfe and donor regulations
As a qualified applicant, you possess:
A university/university of applied sciences degree in agriculture or a comparable specialised qualification suitable to the position
Several years of experience in the implementation of agricultural projects in international (aid) organisations, preferably in the region and/or with BMZ funding
A high level of flexibility and ability to manage and work in a team
Good mental and physical resilience and willingness for duty trips in rural areas
Co-ordination and organisation skills even under heavy work pressure
A very good oral and written command of French and English is mandatory, a good command of Swahili is an advantage
